Double the Consonant Game

Description

Reading Game – Double the consonant before adding a suffix. Work your way around the board, and when you land, read the word. The first player to the finish wins! All you need are some counters and a dice. This game focuses on the double the consonant rule; when adding a suffix to a single syllable base word with a short vowel and one consonant sound at the end, double the final consonant before adding the suffix. The more times these words are read, the more chance the brain has of orthographically mapping the letter strings. This then supports spelling. This game has two pages, page 1 is the game, and page two has some ideas to support with further learning.
