‘yeet’ card game

Edit - yeet is now live! Visit this awesome game here.

I’ve been busy with a card game, and it’s almost live! It all began with wanting to create a literacy game that would appeal to students who were struggling with learning to read, write and spell. Repetition is a key element in creating neural pathways for learning. What better way to do this than with a fun literacy game?

Teachers, Tutors, and Parents will benefit from having this quick game in your bag of resources! The rules are easy, and once students know how to play, they are away! Play once, twice, or multiple times! As it is a game of chance, a quick shuffle between games means no two games are the same.

yeet’ will support with boosting literacy and building vocabulary. Each version of the game is based on a specific sound or spelling rule. Once the rule has been taught, use ‘yeet’ to support building the recognition of letter strings in words.

There are 5 versions of ‘yeet’; CVC words, silent e words, soft c and g words, er, ir, ur words, and longer spelling words. Packs contain 54 cards made up of 1 instruction card, 7 ‘yeet’ cards, and 46 vocabulary cards. The spelling rules and sounds used have been chosen based on data from multiple spelling assessments.

Cards can be used to play ‘yeet’, or on their own for other vocabulary and spelling activities. ‘yeet’ can be played over Zoom tutoring sessions. The website will be live shortly!
