A Reader’s Theatre Wonderful Words is a digital book with over 30 poetic scripts covering a range of sounds and spelling patterns. In this publication, you will find a mixture of Reader’s Theatre scripts designed to support the development of reading fluency in an engaging and purposeful way. Each script is presented first in colour, followed by a printer-friendly black-and-white version for easy classroom use.

Included are elements of humour and playfulness throughout the scripts to help students connect with the texts and enjoy the reading experience. You are encouraged to read through each script before using it with your students to decide how best to assign parts and support their fluency. Some scripts include a more challenging section, which could be read aloud by the teacher or assigned to a more confident reader, depending on your group.

Please note: this publication is not being sold as a set of decodable texts. Instead, each script is authentically written with a focus on a particular phoneme or spelling pattern. While the texts are not strictly controlled for phonics, they are thoughtfully crafted to expose students to target sound-spelling combinations in context.
