The Yeet Blends pack focuses on short vowel words that include consonant blends at the beginning or the end of the word. You’ll see blends like st, bl, gr, nd, and more, always paired with short vowels a, e, i, o, or u.
This pack is ideal for learners in Year 0 and Year 1 who are ready to move beyond simple CVC words, and it’s also incredibly supportive for older learners in Year 2 and beyond who need more structured practice with sounding out and blending.
Inside this pack, you’ll find a mixture of common and less common vocabulary. That’s intentional. We want learners to rely on decoding the full word, not guessing from the first sound.
When teaching blends, I’m very careful about one thing:
A blend is not one sound. We don’t squash it together. We say each sound clearly, even though they’re sitting next to each other.
For example:
s – t – o – p
Then blend: stop.
Every sound still matters.
This pack builds confidence with more complex word structures, while still staying fully decodable and systematic. If your learner is ready to move beyond simple CVC words, this is a really natural next step.
