Longer Spelling

$25.00

The Yeet Longer Spelling pack focuses on the spelling rules ck, tch, and dge after a short vowel sound. Also included are some words with the floss spelling pattern. Although we don’t call this a longer spelling pattern, it is technically one, and we find it’s still good for students to have repetitive exposure to floss words in order to cement the pattern.

These are patterns some learners often find confusing, but they’re actually very predictable once taught clearly.

After a short vowel:

• We often use ck to spell the /k/ sound.
• We use tch to spell the /ch/ sound.
• And we use dge to spell the /j/ sound.

You’ll see words like: back, duck, match, stitch, badge, bridge.

All of these follow a rule. The short vowel comes first, and the spelling that follows helps protect that short vowel sound.

Vocabulary in this pack contains short vowels a, e, i, o, and u, and includes both lower and higher level words. That makes it flexible; you can use it with younger learners or older students who are rebuilding spelling confidence.

Each pack contains 54 cards made up of

  • 1 Instruction Card

  • 7 ‘yeet’ Cards

  • 46 Vocabulary Cards.

Each pack of cards comes in a beautiful tuck box.
