Silent E
The Yeet Silent e pack focuses on words that follow the silent e pattern, sometimes called the “magic e” pattern, where the final e changes the vowel sound earlier in the word.
You’ll see words containing vowels a, e, i, o, and u combined with consonants, forming patterns like:
cap → cape
hop → hope
kit → kite
This pack is ideal for Year 0 and Year 1 learners who are ready to move beyond short vowels, and it’s also incredibly valuable for older learners who need support in recognising long vowel patterns.
Inside the pack, you’ll find a mixture of common and less common vocabulary words. Again, this ensures learners rely on decoding patterns rather than guessing.
When we teach silent e, we are very explicit about what’s happening. The e is silent, but it’s powerful as it signals a change to the vowel sound.
This pack is powerful because it helps learners see that English spelling is structured. There are rules. There are patterns. And once you know them, reading becomes much more predictable.
You can extend this pack by:
• comparing short and long vowel pairs
• building word chains
• sorting by vowel
• or moving into spelling once reading is secure
If your learner is stuck on short vowels, this pack is often the breakthrough moment.
Each Pack Contains 54 Cards made up of
1 instruction card
7 ‘yeet’ cards
46 vocabulary cards.
Each pack of cards comes in a beautiful tuck box.
